We’re delighted to receive news that the ExLRT Loop Resistance tester has just been awarded ATEX and IECEx Intrinsic Safety certification. According to MK Test Systems, UL certification is soon to follow which will make the ExLRT the most suitable loop testing tool for airlines and MROs available on the global market.
To develop this specialist product, MK Test Systems own electronics and software design team required support. Hillside Product Design (HPDL) were appointed to be the mechanical design team responsible for developing the three dimensional form of the product and delivering it through tooling to production.
HPDL Director Chris Howsam says “One of the key elements of designing for intrinsic safety is to maintain a design file and submit extensive documentation describing the product to the examiner. HPDL supplied all necessary files and documentation relating to the mechanical design and supported the team with completing the award submission and we are delighted MKTest have this certification confirmed”.
He adds “The challenge to design a product like this one for use in such a hostile environment was only possible through the commitment and professionalism of all the businesses involved and their contributing staff. We did our bit as did everyone else and this product is top of its class because of the excellent skills and collaboration of the parties involved”
The ExLRT will be used by The Boeing Company with the first units being delivered to Boeing within a month.
