For June’s #ThrowbackThursday we’re revisiting one of the biggest and most challenging projects in our display and retail portfolio. The Xylobands.
When Coldplay launched their album ‘A Head Full of Dreams’ they asked Regler Limited to develop a new and improved LED wristband to use during their planned world tour. At the trial event in Madrid 16,000 wristbands with timers had to be programmed individually to light at exactly the same moment, complementing the music and lighting effects of the show. The result was spectacular and led to several iterations of wristband, some branded for Coldplay’s album tour, some branded for their headlining performance at Glastonbury and some built with an integral speaker to play a short piece of music during a key part of the album tour.
Hillside Product Design (HPDL) were commissioned to assist in designing, developing and manufacturing these new Xylobands. Tight deadlines, tough cost constraints and the high expectation of the customer made this an extremely demanding project. Within 3 months 2.4 million wristbands offered in 6 colours had been ordered to cover the tour of 60 shows.
It was an amazing time for Hillside and it just goes to show that when a client and their experienced design team are committed, we can achieve great things.
If you have got an idea you want to take to market, we will assist you through your journey. Even the most accomplished will require help which is where our expertise is invaluable.
