With 10 more sleeps to go until Christmas Day, Hillside's MD Chris Howsam provides an update on our fundraising campaign for Centrepoint.
"Over the last few days, I've been delighted to see a rise in support for our Centrepoint Christmas fundraiser to help the young homeless. As of today, we have reached 87% of our target and been blown away by the donations received and the generosity shown from our clients and friends! The fundraiser has hit home for many as the weather gets colder, the nights continue to draw in and we creep ever closer towards Christmas.
It breaks my heart as a father of two to know that there are many young people facing the toughest of times alone and frightened and I hope the offer of a warm meal in a friendly place will let these young people know they are not forgotten.
When we sit with our own families and enjoy our Christmas dinners, those we have helped will be in our thoughts. We are well on our way to raising our target of £1000 by Christmas Day – this amount would be equivalent to 100 homeless young people receiving a Christmas dinner in a safe and warm environment. What a fantastic feeling for all of us on Christmas day to know we gave a proper present this year to someone who really needed it.
But don’t worry if you are not able to donate, times are tough and there is every probability it will not ease for some time. Could you instead help, by sharing this fundraiser with your own contacts and bring Centrepoint to the attention of more people?
Thank you again to those who have supported our efforts to date, and also in advance for any help you can give to support the great work of this amazing organisation".
