On Friday 30th September, Senior Designers Tom Bonfield and Greg Carlson attended the prestigious Plastics Industry Awards held at the Hilton on Park Lane. The PIAs recognise and celebrate the best in innovation and excellence in this highly competitive market.
Tom had been shortlisted as one of four finalists for the Young Designer of the Year for his work on Lockabox – the secure polycarbonate locker for communal living. Tom was lead designer during the development of Lockabox, from creating the first sketches of mechanical concepts to proving the design, materials selection and tooling trials.
The 2016 Plastics Industry Awards had a Great Gatsby theme, and certainly lived up to expectations with a glittering display of acrobatics, song and dance from the Roaring twenties and even a fire-eater to accompany a sumptuous four course dinner.
Director Chris Howsam said “we’re very proud of Tom for being nominated, and although he was pipped to the post I’m sure he will take this fantastic experience and use it to grow as a designer”. Tom commented “the opportunity to have such a prestigious nomination to my name is great and I have to thank Hillside for their encouragement to enter”.
