At Hillside Product Design we all maintain a busy day to day working schedule, but occasionally we do find time to work on our own projects. The use of single – board microcontrollers in prototyping is becoming more prevalent and allows the user to code a board that will sense and control physical hardware.
The controllers are readily available, compatible with a large range of hardware and can be programmed to carry out a huge range of tasks of varying complexity. This flexible functionality was perfect for starting one of our own projects.
Within a few hours the components had been wired, soldered, assembled and the code uploaded. We even had enough time to put on a LCD screen with buttons so that we could have a user friendly interface without being connected to a PC.
