The client is a manufacturer and supplier of concrete reinforcement solutions. This product is a ‘skid plate’ which is slid onto steel rebar used in building foundation pilings.
Once the plate is positioned correctly, the rebar is bent at that point so that the plates form a buffer at the same diameter as the hole the piling will fit into. This centralises the steel reinforcement structure within the concrete and, as the plates are the only part of the structure that will have any possibility of being in contact with the surrounding earth, it will prevent moisture from reaching the steel and causing corrosion.
Hillside Product Design produced CAD data and 2D drawings for the client and has now been taken to production.
