Wheel Yoke and Roller

The client is a large manufacturer of boat trailers. They commissioned Hillside Product Design to cost engineer an existing metal fabricated wheel yoke as a lower cost plastic yoke. We quickly determined that this would be possible by developing a basic design using FEA. Parts were manufactured directly from CAD data and control drawings with full support for the toolmakers up to signing off.

In addition to this we were commissioned to design a plastic roller wheel as an overmoulded elastomer tyre onto a rigid inner wheel moulding.  Parts were manufactured directly from CAD data and control drawings with full support for the toolmakers up to signing off.

The client also originally bought in a plastic headed locking knob to secure number plate boards and the like. As part of this ongoing product review, Hillside Design designed an alternative part to this knob which was an overmoulded bolt. This new knob resulted in a substantial saving over the cost of the original knob and extended the branding of the client.
