Electric Fence Gate Pole

The client is a long established manufacturer of electric fencing products and almost all of their products are used commercially by livestock farmers. In recent years many people have started to keep small holdings with chickens, ducks etc. which realise a good profit in free range eggs and meat. 

The client had already launched a budget range of Line Energisers and was considering how to develop a moveable electric mesh fence which would enable the smallholder to pass in and out freely.

Hillside Product Design was commissioned to develop a gate product which could be incorporated into an electrified mesh fence. The final design was an insulated pole connected to the end of the mesh fence and which could be lifted out of a base socket and opened to allow the owner through the gap while still being electrified. The concept was prototyped and finalised for manufacture from 3D data files and 2D control drawings.
