The client was an established name in the toy industry. They had a concept for a portable football training aid which was to be endorsed by a well known footballer. The concept was already developed as a sculpted block model and outline description.
The brief was to develop a mechanism that would propel only the ball (for safety reasons) from the boot for kick and header training and then productionise the components for manufacture in the Far East. The first task was to reverse engineer the sculpture of the boot to create a boundary shell.
The mechanism was developed inside this shell and incorporating its features to include a sprung belt clip (sole of the boot), trigger (laces/tongue), ejector mechanism and mating socket on the ball. The components were finalised and 3D CAD data and a fully working prototype issued.
