Mechanical Elephant Toy

The client is a well known name in the toy industry with a range of mechanical clockwork toys. Several dual action mechanisms had been developed that could be primed with a single action and the client wanted to introduce a new range of toys based on animal figures. The brief was to design an elephant with a mouse climbing its back that could be shown to the in-house toy development team. 

The toy was to be primed by pulling the mouse down the elephants back. The mouse then climbed the elephants back and when it got to the head the elephant rolled away flapping its ears. Once the internal and external arrangement has been resolved the next stage was to sculpt an actual size model of the toy in foam to confirm the overall size and features. This was approved and the design was developed to a 'skeleton' full working prototype to allow the client to see the internal workings.
