This is a Puck puzzle made up of twelve coloured segments rotating around four axes. The task was to develop the mechanism, build a prototype play set and issue CAD data. The parts are designed for injection moulding tooling and close attention had to be given to tolerances and fits to ensure a smooth play action.
The assembly consists of an inner tie ring, six inner spacer sub-assemblies and twelve coloured outer segments. This only requires four unique parts. The prototypes were made using pigmented, vacuum cast polyurethane resin in silicone tooling from stereolithography masters. The components were finalised and 3D CAD data issued.
