The client is one of Europe's leading exhibition design groups. The brief was to research and design and build a series of four hemispheres representing the globe in relief and to show on them different stages of the journey taken by Captain R F Scott to explore the Antarctic on the RRS Discovery between 1901-1904.
The globes were blow moulded in acrylic and the relief applied as cut outs from a vacuum formed ABS overlay. The mountain ranges were resin and filler and the overall finish spray painted to represent the seas, mountains, lowlands and ice. The landmasses were traced from a much smaller model globe using a custom built 3D pantograph.
