The client is a well known name in the toy industry with a range of rubber monster toys, some of which could squirt water, stick out their tongues etc. The client felt it would be appropriate for the monsters to be “caged” in their packaging and this could then be a part of the toy and become a home for the monster. The brief was to design a ramshackle looking monster cage. The first stage was to prepare a range of sketch concepts and agree a style and method of assembly. The chosen design was developed to a full working prototype featuring open and shut injection moulding components which was used as a copy master with accompanying control drawings. The client requested additional copies of the prototype in different colours for packaging mockups and these were created by vacuum casting from silicone tooling.
