Secure Wall Mount

The client is an inventor who approached Hillside Product Design seeking support in developing a new product idea for a wall mounted fitting used for securing bicycles, ladders, and similar items. The client had designed and prototyped the internal arrangement and wished to create an attractive and robust injection moulded cover which would clip on and provide visual interest and a location for his branding. The cover should be straight-forward to clip on once the chassis is attached to the wall.

The client’s aim was to approach retailers with an attractive, robust prototype and credible costings for the product’s manufacture. Hillside Product Design worked around the proven mechanical arrangement to create a selection of concepts which were distinctive and eye-catching, but would also clip securely onto existing features in the folded metal chassis. The concepts considered the limitations of the injection moulding process, and the client’s budget for tooling.

Hillside Product Design developed the client’s chosen styling concept into a CAD model which was prototyped with Hillside’s in-house 3D printing service. 2D control drawings were created which Hillside Product Design used to obtain comprehensive quotations for tooling and moulded components, and the prototype was used effectively in marketing photography.
