The client is a long established manufacturer of electric fencing products. Hillside Product Design was commissioned to design and develop a new range of external battery powered budget electric fence energisers which would be waterproof and extremely robust.
The main considerations of this project were weatherproofing, being able to endure constant outdoor exposure and being robust enough to withstand accidental or deliberate impact from heavy livestock or users during installation or maintenance.
The client had already developed a PCB and the enclosure design was somewhat dictated by this being a fixed component. The final design was selected from a small range of sketches and developed using 3D CAD and rapid prototypes. Hillside Product Design arranged manufacture of the parts from 3D CAD data and 2D control drawings with full support for the toolmakers up to signing off.
