The client is a technology company who contacted Hillside Design with a request to improve upon an existing component whilst at the same time taking the opportunity to reduce cost, and improve ease of fabrication and assembly.
Hillside Design undertook a feasibility study to establish the suitability of various manufacturing options and as a result of this implemented a new methodology leading to an improved component with reduced cost. As part of the improved fabrication process a hand operated punch press was made for use in the client’s production line. The punch press was designed to be retro fitted to an existing press resulting in a quick and repeatable way of accurately punching two holes into a part for its location into the assembly.
