Shepherds Hut Chassis Castings

The client is an entrepreneur and manufacturer of shepherd hut chassis for the luxury camping industry. They wanted to source their own range of wheels, axle hubs, and steering turntables in order to reduce costs and bring the supply chain of these parts within their own control. 

After a briefing from the client where vital information such as axle and wheel diameters and assembly methods were outlined, Hillside Product Design developed the four new components in CAD and liaised with the client’s chosen factory to agree draft angles and tolerances for features which would be precision machined into the cast components. 

Hillside Product Design prepared comprehensive manufacturing specifications which the client used to arrange sampling and production with the factory.
