Industrial Overhead Luminaires

This client manufactures state of the art energy efficient industrial drive and lighting products. Hillside Product Design was commissioned to undertake a blue sky brainstorming exercise to look afresh at industrial overhead luminaires. This resulted in a list of innovations which would be unique in this market and the client instructed Hillside Design to develop a new range of low energy luminaires. 

The resulting design could be easily configured to suit different lamp sizes and easily allowed the installer to adjust the lamp positions within the reflector to give the best spread of light depending on the height and position of the unit relative to the area needing to be lit. Ergonomic aspects of the design included fitting and maintaining the product at height, so areas where access was needed, for example to change the lamps, were carefully considered.

The design was refined through several prototypes and innovative features were protected by intellectual property. The product range was manufactured from CAD data and Hillside Design supported the manufacturers and clients own staff until sign off with full production at the assembly facility.
