Lighting Sensor Module

This client manufactures state of the art energy efficient industrial drive and lighting products. Hillside Product Design was approached to develop a PIR sensor module that would activate a light unit or units when motion was detected. 

The product is intended to be used in places like warehouses and multi-storey car parks, where light is only needed for the duration of time that a person is occupying that particular space instead of constantly being on - thus saving energy and reducing the customer’s electricity bill.

The client had developed the electronics for the module, but required assistance with the product enclosure. Hillside Product Design was tasked with preparing concepts for the case, considering the ergonomic aspects of installing and maintaining the product, as well as minimising the risk of damage from vandalism and water ingress. 

Concepts were developed as CAD models and the final design was prototyped before commencing production. Parts were manufactured directly from CAD data and control drawings, with full support given for the toolmakers up to signing off.
