Coupling Caps

The client is a manufacturer and supplier of concrete reinforcement solutions. They had a requirement to develop a fast and secure method of blanking off threaded couplings on the ends of re-bar during concrete pouring. 

The concept is a range of different sizes of plastic caps that hammer fit into the ends of couplings and twist out by hand after curing. Hillside Product Design developed the concept from an initial sketch stage through vacuum cast prototypes to full manufacturing specification. We arranged manufacture of the parts from 3D CAD data and 2D control drawings with full support for the toolmakers up to signing off.
